Dog-friendly beaches in Norfolk
The Norfolk coast is known for having amazing beaches which welcome dogs. A few of our favourites:
Winterton-on-Sea beach
One of the best dog-friendly beaches in Norfolk, open to dogs year-round and just 10 minutes walk from Mill Farm Eco Barns. Wide sandy beach, rolling dunes and miles of coastline perfect for long walks.
Sea Palling
Beautiful, family-friendly and great for dogs. The shallow waters and sandy beach are ideal for dogs that love a paddle.
Horsey Gap
Famous for seals in winter, this beach also offers spectacular open sands and lovely walking routes. Dogs are welcome but should be kept on lead near the seal colonies.
Our favourite local walks
You don’t have to travel far for great dog walks. We have several lovely walks straight from the doorstep. We include several downloadable routes in your welcome guide including:
The Winterton dunes & nature reserve
A stunning landscape of sandy dunes and winding paths. A dream for dogs who love exploring.
Horsey windpump circular walk
A scenic loop through the Broads landscape, passing waterways, marshes and open countryside.
Norfolk coast path
Take a section of this iconic trail for incredible views and long-distance adventures.
“We loved being able to head out with our dog off the lead right from the door for fabulous walks!”

Dog-friendly pubs & cafés
Norfolk is, on the whole, incredibly welcoming to dogs, and there are plenty of places nearby to enjoy a meal or a quick drink with your four-legged friend in tow:
- The Fisherman’s Return (Winterton-on-Sea). Lovely local pub, very dog friendly. A short walk from Mill Farm Eco Barns.
- Poppylands Tea Room (Horsey). Quirky, cosy and welcoming to dogs.
- The Nelson Head (Horsey). Great food and a lovely atmosphere
Tips for travelling with your dog
- Bring extra towels for sandy paws
- Keep dogs on a lead around livestock and near the seals at Horsey
- Bring plenty of fresh water for longer walks
- Be mindful of seals during pupping season (Nov–Jan)
Norfolk is a wonderful place for dog owners; a mix of open beaches, quiet countryside and welcoming local businesses.
